Diving in your zone

Diving the Off-shore Ledges will get you into our bigger adventures.
This is where Palm Beach divers go for bigger fish potential, deeper diving, and far more variability in what they might see, based on the reef location.

The reefs in Boynton Beach will have an offshore side quite different from DelRay Beach or from Breakers Reef. Juno and Jupiter will have very different offshore ledges, with "sometimes" radically more advanced deep diving requirements-- some gear based, some SAC rate based, some training and experience based.

In this relatively shallow offshore ledge environment (shallow when compared to some of the more northern reefs as you reach Singer Island and Juno Beach), divers can experience the Offshore side with depths still allowing reasonably long bottom times with nitrox mixes.

........There are a few structurally fantastic differences in the offshore side ledges....One of the great examples of the difference potentials, are the "Finger Structures" of Boynton Beach.

In this area, the wall of the off-shore ledge has a long series of large finger like protrusions. These protrusions, or fingers, can extend outward as far as 75 or more feet, and between the fingers, is a canyon-like void typically with a narrow bed of sand at the v-shaped bottoms. The sides of the finger protrusions often have large undercut ledges or caves, and in these you can find life as large as Goliath Groupers, or as small as nudibranchs. These are areas of the reef where you really will enjoy using a good dive light.
