Blue Heron Bridge Marine Park

Sea horses are weak swimmers, so they spend most of their time holding on to the sea grass or mangroves rather than having to fight against surge or currents. They eat small shrimp, tiny fish, crustaceans and plankton with their long snouts.

The female Seahorse deposits her eggs into the brood pouch of the male, where he fertilizes them and holds them till they hatch.

While most people have heard this before, one interesting factoid about the seahorses, is that in the 2 to 4 week long gestation period, the female finds and swims up to the male and greets him every morning for about 6 minutes, kind of like a courtship or dating ritual :-)
