Norine Rouse, Diving Legend of Palm Beach, was one of world's foremost authorities on sea turtle behavior in the ocean. This interview took place in the mid-nineties when Norine was 70 years old,. Norine had been diving with sea turtles for 30 years at this point. She knew things about turtles you could never read about in text books, and she had been there, in the ocean, to witness the changes which occurred since the 60's.

From the interview :
"I first came to Palm Beach around 1968, from the Bahamas. I jumped into the Palm Beach inlet and was amazed at how much life was packed this close to shore. I decided Palm Beach was the place for me to live and dive, and its been my home ever since."

"I fell in love with turtles my first year of diving in Palm Becah. I began seeing the same turtles in the same places, and began keeping track of how often I could find them in these places. This is how I first discovered the migratory patterns, and some of the diferences between the loggerhead and hawksbill behavior."

"Over all my years of diving, two turtles in particular stand out. Raja and Robert. They were big beautiful loggerheads, and I came to know them very well. I knew Robert for 16 years. I would know when he would be here, and I'd visit him daily. He used to love to have his shell cleaned. The barnacles are a large annoyance to the turtles, and clearly slow them down. When I'd begin cleaning off the barnacles, Roger would just lie there with a big smile on his face, and you could feel his contentment."
