Nemesis II dive computer

SAN FRANCISCO--Texas-based Cochran Undersea Technology rolled out its newest product at the DEMA trade show at the Moscone Center. The "NEMESIS II" is Cochran's second-generation hoseless, air integrated dive computer, coming two years after the introduction of the first model at the 1993 DEMA convention.

Officials at the Texas based development and manufacturing company said "We've had incredibly favorable response from divers using the NEMESIS since we began producing it. As its presence in both technical and recreational diving communities grew, we often heard from owners who suggested additional features or refinements to make it even more useful.

Among the many features and functions are:

  • operating depth certified to 100 meters
  • decompression stops to 60 feet with allowance for extended stops, extended batery life and between dive battery changes
  • a 5119 psi tank pressure reading limit
  • wrist unit which allows true hands free operation
  • user adjustable temperature and workload NDC compensation
  • user adjustable conservatism factor
  • intelligent deep dive penalties to compensate for inverted profiles
  • ascent rate NDC compensation
  • and fixed or proportional ascent rate limit

A number of user settable alarms are included , such as one-half tank pressure and pre-set depth limit. Alarms are both visual and audible.

An optional DCI (PC interface) is needed to access and change many of the user programmable functions. These allow the user to view all the essential aspects a a given dive. Depth, tank pressure, breathing parameter, ascent rate and temperature are graphed. Bar graphs representing beginning and ending nitrogen loading for each dive are also created. Extremely acurate resolution is possible by using the interface to select data logging intervals as frequent as once per second in the NEMESIS II's on-board memory. Sampling can be expanded to allow up to 300 hours of profile storage.

A release on the NEMESIS II NITROX will be out soon.
