Dive Buddies

This is where Internet divers can place their names under their experience level and dive interests, and ultimately find other Internet divers with similar experience and interests. Then you can book dives on the same boat and be able to buddy up with someone you have already met by e-mail, and have qualified that they would be better to dive with than a total stranger (either safer, more fun, or both). And, as well travelled divers can tell you, no matter how great a boat and captain are, if you are part of a group of 4 or 6 or even 8 divers (as opposed to a single individual), you have a much larger vote in where the boat will go, and what sights you'll get to see on any given day. As Internet divers with e-mail interconnectivity, you are uniquely gifted with the opportunity to create your own boat load of divers, and to basically create a custom dive experience for yourself and your fellow Internet divers (all with similar thoughts on diving). Good examples of compatible and incompatible divers follow:

  • Spearfishermen don't usually mix well with photographers
  • Macro photographers don't dive well together with photographers shooting wide-angle.
  • Shell collecters (these people like sand dives)can't dive well with any other groups.
  • Brand new divers tend to ruin the dive experience of very experienced divers, because their presence on the boat frequently eliminates some of the more exciting dive sites from contention. (This is really your concern only if you are very experienced, and looking for adventure type dives)
  • Some divers prefer wreck dives, others prefer reef structures. Others want big fish. Some want pretty little tropical types. Others want Shark encounters.

If you can arrive at an aggreeable list of dive experiences for an Internet boatload, you can drastically enhance your dive trip. And you may very well find several people who have similar vacation times and dive interests, and who you would enjoy diving with on many more trips. Our INTERACTIVE DIVE BUDDY PAGE will start out by linking you to various categories you feel you would like diving within:
