Required Equipment and Storage

All students enrolling in courses involving open water training are required to have the following equipment:

  • Mask, fins and snorkel
  • Regulator with submersible pressure gauge
  • Alternate air source device (octopus, pony bottle, Spare Air¨)
  • Full exposure suit (see note)
  • Compass, timing device and depth gauge (computer suggested)

Note: Ocean temperatures vary from the low to mid 70's in winter and mid to upper 80's in summer, and pool temperatures can vary even more. And for some courses you'll be spending many hours in the pool with little movement. So, we suggest you bring with you a full wet suit of at least 3mm/one eight-inch thickness or greater. A hood or some form of undervest is highly suggested during the winter season.

Storage of equipment: Available on-site in a secured area (locked and with alarm system) within the school facility. Equipment holding racks and a hanging wetsuit area are available for your use. Please be sure to mark your equipment prior to arrival and if you wish your gear hung up, please bring an appropriately strong hanger.
