Rebreather Diver Certification Course

Individual-specific testing will begin this program. Nitrox theory, the Meyers-Briggs test, and physiological testing will assist the instructor and student to tailor this course to the individual diver. Building upon theory taught in the Intro Rebreather course the diver will learn specific design and safety considerations for rebreathers. Hypoxia and hypercapnia will be demonstrated to each student in a classroom setting. Unit-specific maintenance and cleaning procedures will be stressed. Pool sessions will provide repetitions in emergency procedures, while ocean diving will provide supervised experience with the unit. Because rebreathers bring with them a new set of safety concerns, proper attitude and diving procedures will be necessary for a diver to be relatively safe while diving ANY rebreather. Divers are cautioned that only after hundreds of hours can divers truly become familiar with rebreather operations. This program is designed specifically for a person who has purchased (or is in the process of purchasing) an Odyssey Rebreather. Tuition payment for this course guarantees instruction, but not certification. Satisfactory completion of this course certifies the student and will allow delivery of the Odyssey unit to the buyer. If the Odyssey unit is purchased through Dive USA, credit for tuition will be applied against the purchase of the unit.
