The sport of scuba diving has undergone tremendous changes in recent years. Armed with constantly improving technology, divers today are pushing the envelope of what was once thought to be the limits of non-commercial undersea exploration. Challenging the accepted recreational limits, a whole new aspect of scuba diving has emerged. Termed "technical sport diving" or "extended-range" diving, it represents the next generation of our beloved sport.
Appropriately, this new application of technology and technique comes as we are about to enter the next millennium. And what divers of the year 2000 and beyond will become will in many ways be guided by those of you with the courage to explore this frontier. While there's been significant interest in technical diving of late, one of the limitations to its growth is training. Currently, there are very few outlets for training, and even fewer who do it on a full-time basis. Responding to this need, DIVE USA has established the School of Technical and Cave Diving. Our mission is to help diver acquire the knowledge and skills they need to participate in the most advanced forms of scuba diving safely and with the full understanding of the risks and consequences. We recognize that this type of activity is not for everyone, and, in fact, we take great care to first assess the experience, qualification and motivation before accepting anyone into courses in this school. For those willing to accept the challenge, DIVE USA can offer you perhaps the most well-round technical diver training available. We look forward to working with you.
