The School of Emergency Medical Education: When traditional rescue training just isn't enough.

A Message From the Director

Have you ever been faced with a real diving emergency? Could you handle everything that has to be done for a diver in need? Let's face it, although statistically diving is very safe, accidents do happen. Yet, most divers don't realize that a diving emergency only begins when the victim is brought out of the water. Proper treatment means a lot more than have the victim "lie down and breath pure oxygen." But, you say, isn't that what a rescue course is all about? Not by a long shot.

At DIVE USA we believe that the typical "rescue diver" course, while a good starting point, just doesn't give you enough training to be truly capable of handling a diving emergency. This is especially true if you are or want to become a diving professional. Unfortunately, finding advanced-level training in diving medicine and accident management has been very difficult. And often what does exist is often geared to doctors in a hospital setting, not to people like you who are in the field actually handling the accident scene.

Now, DIVE USA brings you a training program that gives you the knowledge and skills to render effective, state-of-the-art medical care. Our School of Emergency Medical Education was formed to give instructors, diving professionals or any other interested divers the real-world skills needed to handle all aspects of a diving emergency - from rescue through evacuation. Our programs give you the in-depth knowledge to understand what might be wrong with a victim and the skill to do something about it. Someday, someone may thank you.

Sincerely,

Dudley Crosson, Ph.D., Director
