Medic First Aid

Course Highlights: This is a one-day (eight hours) basic-level course in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and emergency care. The program is a medically-based course, which means that it is designed to train students to follow the same emergency procedures and priorities used by paramedics and doctors. Knowing these techniques help insure that a victim of an accident or illness the patient is passed from the first person on the scene to the paramedics and finally on to the doctors in the emergency room with a continuity of care. The course is build around what are termed the seven basic skills including: Primary Assessment;, One-Rescuer CPR, Obstructed Airway, Control of Bleeding, Shock Management, Illness Assessment, and Injury Assessment.

Prerequisites:

As the course is not "diver-oriented," anyone over the age of twelve may enroll. No diving experience or certification is necessary. This course does meet the CPR/First Aid requirements for a PADI Rescue course, as well as U.S. Coast Guard Captain's license requirements.
