Night time is also a great time for macro photo (close-up photo too, but not photo classes). At night all the reef rules change. The corals go through a "worker" shift change as the soft corals retire with tentacles pulled in for the night.
...While the hard corals like this brain coral turn ravenous (as these worms found out too late in their life).
Different prowlers come out hunting at night. We found this octopus casing out the territory under the bridge just before dusk. Initially he showed red indicating irritation at our arrival
...then showed some of his/her ample brains and tactfully retreated toward the lair...,
...and finally decided discretion was the better part of valor and curled up completely into his hole.
